Gallup survey is “gup survey”:PML_Q

Pervaiz ElahiLahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) spokesman has said that the gallup survey regarding the govt performance merely “gup survey”, in 9 months the Federal Govt was not able to make headway on any national, people’s problem.

In a strong reaction to the gallup survey, the PML spokesman said in a statement issued here today that if there was any reduction in load shedding, price hike of essential and other articles and terrorism, obstacles in the quick and cheap dispensation of justice were removed, volume of foreign debt was cut, there was no increase in the prices of electricity, gas and petroleum products then the people would surely have believed the claims about improvement.

He said according to the ground realities that the govt performance on these issues worsened with every passing day, this was the only govt in the history of Pakistan which in its first 9 months in power established the record of securing maximum domestic and external debt, got currency notes worth Rs 24 crore printed every hour and pushed the people in the sea of unemployment and dearness, electricity and gas bills were doubled, industrial and agricultural production was reduced, food crisis deepened further, facilities of education and health were gradually reduced, due to no interest of the govt the difficulties in the provision of clean drinking water and running of polio vaccination programmes without any obstruction increased and the govt failed to evolve any strategy with regard to these important people’s problems.

Continuing the PML spokesman further stated that even on the front of the good governance the failures of the present govt were well-known, in the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner, holding of local bodies elections and removal of officials the courts orders were shattered into pieces, the Federal Govt appeared non-serious in playing its constitutional role regarding holding of the local; bodies elections in accordance with the orders of the courts and constitutional requirements as a result of which more than 8 crore voters were continuously being denied their right of vote.

He said that politicking was done in the name of electricity crisis, dilly dallying tactics were adopted regarding release of Rs 60 crore allocated for Munda Dam and despite all this it was claimed that solution of energy crisis was being given first priority, irreparable loss was caused to the industrial by reducing power generation due to mismanagement and corruption, devaluation of rupees as compared to dollar in the recent 9 months was unparalleled in the entire history, on top of all due to duality on the issue of extremism and terrorism the process of negotiations was used to gain political mileage as a result of which precious lives were being lost and unrest was increasing in the country, the govt seemingly was failing in display clear thinking and strategy.

The spokesman wondered that through the Gallup survey it was being showed that 50 per cent people were satisfied with the performance of the govt and concluding with the remarks that in the present era of information technology there was no room for the tactics of changing bad governance into good governance through airy surveys.
