Japanese students visit GCU

Japanies StudentsLahore: A delegation of School of Foreign Studies, Osaka University Japan has visited the Government College University, Lahore and also met with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman. The delegation comprising of three teachers and nine students was led by Osaka University Urdu Department Chairperson Prof Saya Mane.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman said that GCU had very strong academic linkage with the Osaka University School of Language and Culture and Osaka University School of Foreign Studies and students’ exchanges were held on regular basis to promote cultural and research ties between both the countries. The Vice Chancellor briefed the delegation about the 150 years glorious history of GCU and various academic programmes being offered by the university.

The delegation along with GCU Urdu Department Chairperson Dr Haroon Qadir, Prof Tabasum Kashmiri and Dr Khalid Sajarni also visited the university’s Iqbal Hostel where the Poet of East Allama Muhammad Iqbal had spent four years of his student life.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Saya Mane said that poetry and philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal was also very popular among students of his university in Japan.
