DCOs should ensure auction process in the vegetable markets:Bilal Yasin

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food and Chairman Price Control Committee, Bilal Yasin has said that presence of representatives of DCOs should be ensured in vegetable markets of the province for inspection of auctioning process. He said that absence of concerned officers will not be tolerated at all.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the price control committee at Civil Secretariat, here today. Provincial Minister for Industries Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Ch. Arshad Jutt, Members Provincial Assembly and administrative secretaries of the provincial departments were present on the occasion.

The Minister said that Punjab government has also introduced a method of SMS for knowing the prices of edible items throughout the province. The citizens can know the price of the concerned item by sending the name of any item by giving space at 80024. He said that in this way, the citizens can become aware of the prices of flour, pulses, vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs and milk after 9.00 am.

The meeting was informed that responsible persons visited the markets of all the districts in Punjab to provide edible items to the people at affordable rate and imposed fine to the persons involved in overcharging and other crimes. The meeting expressed satisfaction that the prices of commodities have stabilized.

Chairman Price Control Committee issued instructions that the consumers should be provided free facility of checking the correct weight of edible items and poultry in all the bazaars and markets. The meeting directed that the sale of hygienic meat should be ensured at per price settled for poultry.
