Sports play a pivotal role in aligning human mind

Lahore: A sound mind is found in sound body and sports play a pivotal role in aligning human mind in right direction and help the forces to be active said Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema while addressing the closing the ceremony of Third NH&MP Annual Sports Festival held at Sheikhupura. DIG Wajid Zia, DIG Mirza Shakil Ahmad, DIG Zubair Hashmi, DIG Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan, DIG Helena Iqbal Saeed, Sector Commanders and other senior police officers were present on the occasion.

On this occasion Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police said that NH&MP is known not only in Pakistan but all over the world as courteous, honest and helping force. People from all segment of society appreciate its honesty. Inspector General further said that the slogans of ‘Honest is our faith’, ‘Courteous dealing is our recognition’ and ‘Help to people is our pride’ are imprinted upon the minds of all the officers of NH&MP. These qualities which are our asset and weapon really distinguish this department from all others and we will safeguard it at every cost.

The teams from North, South, Central, Motorway, West Zones, Training College and Headquarters participated in the sports festival. In seven days long festival Cricket, Football, Tug of War, Basketball, Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Badminton and Athletic competitions were held. N-5 Central Zone won the title of Best Zone by winning 07 Gold Medals while N-5 North Zone remained runner up with 04 Gold titles. The special event of this closing ceremony was 50 and 100 meter race between Zonal , Sector Commanders and Inspector General respectively. Inspector General NH&MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema congratulated the winning teams and appreciated the efforts of DIG Central Zone Mirza Shakil Ahmad and Commandant Training College SP Athar Waheed for organizing the sports festival. Inspector General further showed his commitment that NH&MP will continue to hold this annual event which has become an important feature of the department.
