Lahore: The General Cadre Doctors Association (GCDA) president Dr Masood Akhtar Sheikh, while meeting with the advisor to the Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Health Babar Hayat Tarrar during a review meeting of the agreed upon service structure of the doctors said that new seat of general cadre in BS 20 and 19 have already been promised in the service structure, and if announced will result in increase of 200 seats in grade 20 and 676 seat in BS 19, thus making room for those struck up in grade 18 and 19, making it possible for accelerated promotion.
He highlighted that the general cadre doctors have been the back bone of heath delivery system, but their promotions in senior grades is not stream lined. He said that this time the department should focus on general cadre doctors on grade 18 and 19, so that the dead lock in their promotion may be cleared, thus making their promotion possible to the next grade.
Dr Masood sheikh said that once the seniors are promoted to the next scale then the space will be available for those coming up from BS 17. He added that without creation of new slots in senior scales the whole process of promotion will stand still. The meeting was preside by khawja salman rafique and acting secretary health Babar Hayyat tarrar and other officers of health department also attended the meeting.
