Food Department issues warning to flour mills

Minister Food Bilal Yaseen along with DCO Lahore  Ahmad Javaid QaziLahore: Food Department has issued warning to the flour mills which fail to provide flour against the released quota of wheat.These mills were threatened for the punishments like fine, suspension of quota in order to maintain the supply and the price of the flour bags.

The department has also imposed  fine of Rs. 95 lakh to the flour mills so far in the province while quota of more than one hundred flour mills has been suspended.

The spokesman of Punjab Food Department has said that 8,20,000 flour bags of 20 kg are being supplied to open markets on daily basis throughout the province and is being sold from Rs. 765 to 785 per 20kg bag. He said that there is no shortage of flour in the market and the supply of flour is being further improved through a formal monitoring system.

The spokesman further said that Punjab Food Department has adopted the policy of issuing open stock on priority basis however, no complaint regarding shortage of wheat has been received from any center of the province. In case of report about shortage of wheat at any center, disciplinary action would be taken against it, the spokesman concluded.
