Police has been put after potatoes tomatoes: Pervaiz Elahi

Pervaiz ElahiLahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that the police has been put after potatoes and tomatoes instead of thieves and dacoits, senior officers like Commissioners and DCOs have also been provided helicopter and given this task instead of improving law and order situation.

If local polls are held then in the N-League ballot boxes there will be photos of potatoes and tomatoes instead of votes, N-League people are not sincere in holding of local bodies elections and the Election Commission should conduct the local polls and not the Commissioners and DCOs, he added.

Addressing a big gathering of Muslim Leaguers in Gujrat today, Ch Parvez Elahi said that we had served the whole of Punjab including Lahore and provided maximum possible facilities and amenities of health treatment and employment and growth in every sector besides launching massive development works and welfare programmes for the well-being of the people. He said as compared to our tenure, now price hike of essential and other articles, unemployment and lawlessness have become the order of the day because of which the people have got fed up with N-League Govt.

He said the people have realized in just six months how much atta and pulses cost and this situation persists then the people would be running around even for one time meal. Ch Parvez Elahi said that prices of essential articles have gone up so much that the people now cannot even throw potatoes and tomatoes on N-League Ministers, MNAs and MPAs thinking that instead of throwing these items on them they better cook one time meal. Thus they have saved their parliamentarians.

Ch Parvez Elahi further said that the people have so much fed up with N-League govt that the poor were committing suicides. Continuing Ch Parvez Elahi said that prior to the general elections he had said that N-League voters would repent but he did not realize that the people would start repenting so soon. He said, the rulers have signed agreement with the IMF with their eyes shut and prices of electricity and oil are increasing continuously.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that N-League is facing grave differences at the grass root level and as such it does not want to hold the local polls. He pointedly stated that whatever promises we had made with the people, all of these were fulfilled and challenged N-League to have a comparison with our performance in any field, agriculture, education and health. He said, caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi had got Wazirabad Cardiology Hospital started again on my asking but Shahbaz Sharif on his coming second time got it closed.

The Punjab Govt has not money even to pay salaries, financial situation of Punjab is very weak, Jangla bus service has not given any benefit to the people but causing Rs 11 billion loss every month, if this money was utilized on hospitals, education and creating employment opportunities then the people would have been prosperous today, he emphasized.
