Lahore : In pursuance of its objective of acquainting the public, especially the youngsters, with the inspiring lives and unforgettable services of the veterans and heroes of the Pakistan Movement, the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust held a special sitting to commemorate the most admirable and highly recommendable virtues and traits of the personality and character of Muhammad Idrees Janbaz, a popular worker of Muslim League at the Aiwan-i-Karkunaan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan in association with the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust.
The sitting was chaired by the Dr. Majeed NIzami with Khawaja Sa’ad Rafique as the guest of honour. The speakers included Shahid Rasheed, Hafiz Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Aziz Zaffar Azad, Nadim Bhatti, Shoib Janbaz, Rana Muhamad Arshad, Ghulam Hussain Shahid, Ms. Saba Sadiq, Tariq Azhari, Aslam Zar and of course, Khawaja Sa’ad Rafique, Federal Railway Minister. Abid Hussain Shah conducted the proceedings of the sitting.
Delivering his presidential address, Dr. Majid Nizami paid a glowing tribute to the rare qualities of the deceased’s character. He exhorted the youngsters to take him as their role-model. The deceased died of cardiac arrest on 24 November 2002, and the same tragedy befell my elder brother, Hamid Nizami who died at the age of only 43, remarked the Doctor. I have already undergone three by-pass operations. Survival after every py-pass means that you have been granted a new lease of life. Seen from that perspective, I am, now, enjoying a fourth life, said the Doctor in a humorous vein.
Khawaja Sa’ad Rafique observed that Janbaz had developed a deep sentimental attachment to the Muslim League which turned him into a kind of dervish and he became oblivious of all worldly and materialistic considerations losing himself in the labyrinths of the Muslim League House. A good many ministers and advisers owed their high position and prosperity to the deceased’s recommendation. But as far as his own self was concerned, he always refused to accept any high rank or position in the party or the government. That is why he left nothing in the shape of property or money to his survivors.
However, he tried to ensure that his offspring received as good education and training as possible. With the divine help, the deceased’s five sons have managed to secure fine ranks and positions in the education and police departments without submitting to the evil practice of getting themselves recommended by anyone in the high position.
One of them Ma’az Janbaz is serving the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust in the capacity of Deputy Director, Research and Publications, which is a sister organization of Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust. Khawaja Sahib remarked that the Quaid-i-Azam always advised his followers to abide by law, but the extremists were bent upon making mischief by violating the constitution and the writ of the state. He observed that the highly strategic geographical location of our country can bring us immense benefits.
By improving our infra-structure and developing strategically important routes, we can cause our dear homeland to be counted among the most honourable members of the comity of nations.
Welcoming and thanking the audience, Shahid Rasheed paid a rich tribute to Dr. Majid Nizami for propagating the virtues of the heroes of our freedom movement amongst the up-coming generations of Pakistan. He remarked that Muhammad Idrees Janbaz was an epitome of selflessness, altruism and humanitarianism and must be taken as a role-model. Similarly Khawaja Sa’ad Rafique had risen to glory only by dint of his own hard work and commitment, he observed.
The other speakers also paid homage to the Muslim League worker Muhammad Idrees Janbaz, who was like a beacon of life in the society. In order to curb the worship of the god of Mammon, we must follow in the footsteps of the sincere and honest people like Muhamamd Idrees Janbaz.
