Lahore : Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said if the NATO supplies were not stopped at this juncture, it would be the federal government and not the provincial government, that would have to go.
Talking to the media persons at Mansoora after laying the foundation stone of a women wing of the Mansoora mosque on Saturday he said that sovereignty and solidarity of the country were national issues and not matters concerning the Jamaat e Islami or the PTI alone. In order to prove ourselves an independent and respectable nation, we would have to throw off the yoke of slavery.
He said in principle, it was for the federal government to stop NATO supplies and added that there won’t be a better moment for doing this job. He said the PTI-JI coalition government in the KPK had taken the lead to stop NATO supplies, and the nation should be thankful for them and also join them in this effort. However, he said, if the federal government attempted to ambush the Khyber P government under the US pressure, the masses would come on roads for safeguarding national sovereignty.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that thousands of NATO containers and trucks would have to pass through Pakistan during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. If the rulers demonstrated cowardice , the masses won’t tolerate them at all. He said the US and NATO never stopped saying that they would withdraw from Afghanistan during the 2014 although nobody believed them. However, the Pakistan government was still afraid of them.
Syed Munawar Hasan that said that the lions for whom the masses had voted in the May elections, were no where to be seen. He said the rulers should frankly tell the US and its allies that they could not face their people, and as the masses had risen against them, they could not plunge their country into anarchy and chaos. This would retrieve the rulers image and the whole nation would stand behind them.
The JI Ameer said that a special committee comprising members of the JI central executive had been formed for contacting various political and religious parties for uniting the bringing the whole nation on one platform on the issue of NATO supplies. The committee would be headed by JI Secretary, Liaqat Baloch.
Syed Munawar Hasan disapproved the idea of another APC saying that another conference would be only be photo session.
