Cabinet Committee review the prices of daily use item

VISIT OF SASTA BAZARSCabinet Committee-1Lahore: Cabinet Committee comprising Provincial Ministers Bilal Yaseen, Dr. Farrukh Javed, Ch. Muhammad Shafique, Chief Secretary, IG Police and Secretary Industry visited DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Multan.

The Cabinet Committee besides reviewing the prices of daily use items, also inspected ‘Sahulat Bazars’ set up for providing quality edible items to the people at cheaper rates. Cabinet Committee besides briefing by district administration, also met the customers in ‘Sahulat Bazars’ and inquired from them about the quality and prices of essential items.

Cabinet Committee was told that on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab ‘Sahulat Bazars’ have been set up throughout the province where quality edible items are being provided to the people at fixed rates. People also told Cabinet Committee that essential items are available in these bazaars at fixed rates and 20kg flour bag is being sold at ex-mill rate of Rs.765.

During its visit, Cabinet Committee made it clear to the district administration that overcharging will not be tolerated at any cost and directed the administration to ensure provision of quality daily use items to the people at fixed rates. Cabinet Committee warned that profiteering and hoarding will not be tolerated at all costs.

Chief Secretary while directing to ensure the sale of petrol and diesel at petrol pumps at fixed rates, said that strict action should be taken against the owners of petrol pumps involved in overcharging.

It may be mentioned that the Cabinet Committee visited four districts in a day and Chief Minister Punjab has also provided his plane and helicopter to the Cabinet Committee for this purpose so that provision of eatable items could be ensured to the people at fixed rates and Cabinet Committee itself review the prices of the essential items.
