ZTBL won All Pakistan CLC Women Gold Cup Cricket Tournament

Lahore: The Women Cricket Team of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) have won All Pakistan CLC Women Gold Cup Cricket Tournament held in Kinnaird College Lahore. The KC team scored 95 runs in the stipulated 20 overs while the ZTBL Team reached the target in 18^th over to win the Gold Cup.

Provincial Minister for Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan while giving a message to the female cricketers, has said, the whole nation was proud of the fact that our women cricket team had won laurels for Pakistan in the most significant sporting events like Asian Cricket Cup.

He recalled that the government of Punjab held an international youth festival in Lahore the last year in which more than 3.3 million youngsters participated and they broke 26 Guinness World Records during the festival. Teams from 26 countries participated in spite of the fact that no foreign cricket team had visited Pakistan for the last five years due to a terrorist attack on the guards of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team when they were on the tour to Pakistan.

The Minister confident that more than five million youngsters will participate in the coming youth festival in Lahore which will commence from December 16, 2013.

Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan disclosed that the government of the Punjab has contacted world top class cricketers and they have been invited to play friendly cricket matches in Lahore. He announced that Punjab Sports Board will extend helping hand to five veteran sports journalists every year from the Sports Endowment Fund established by the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif with a seed money of Rs. 2 billion. This Endowment Fund will be utilized to provide succor and basic needs of daily life to those veteran players who had won laurels for Pakistan when they enjoyed popularity at the peak of their sports carrier but now they deserve charity from the government and the international bodies organizing main events of sports all over the world, the Minister concluded.

President ZTBL Ehsan ul Haq Khan gave away prizes to the winners and the runners up women cricket players and assured that his institution will continue to support the healthy activities of the girl students in future also.
