Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has stressed upon the government to immediately announce stoppage of NATO supplies and pull out of the US war in accordance with the sentiments of the masses.
Talking to party workers at Mansoora on return from a five day Karachi visit, he said people all over the country were protesting against the NATO supplies and the rulers should not fight with their own people. He said the US arms and ammunition going to Afghanistan through our roads were being used in terrorist activities in our tribal areas and cities besides Afghanistan.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that, for the last twelve years, Pakistan, an Islamic state, had been an ally of the US in its so called war on terror, which was actually a war against Islam and the Muslims, and had been a party in the killing of innocent Muslims as also our own people.
He said Pakistan had not gained any thing in this war. On the other hand, it had incurred financial losses to the tune of 100 billion dollars besides losing its image in the comity of the nations and also put its independence and sovereignty at stake. However, he said, that instead of giving any weight to Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war, the US was busy in destabilizing this country.
The JI Ameer said, in the past, Pakistan never felt the need for having an army on the Afghan border. However, our relations with Afghan people had been severely damaged because of the intreagues of the US and India and our safest border was now insecure. The US aggression was increasing day by day and NATO troops were intruding in our north western borders every day and attacking our tribal people, killing scores of innocent men, women and children. Therefore, it was high time that the government gave up slavish attitude and pull out of the US war.
Syed Munawar Hasan expressed the hope that the new army chief, Gen, Raheel Sharif, would keep the armed forces away from politics, following the footsteps of his forerunner, Gen. Kayani. , and also pay his full attention to strengthening the army as an institution and make it
Invincible. He said that Pakistan was passing through a critical era of its history. On one hand, the country was burning in the war on terror started by the US while on the other hand, India and Israel had their eyes on our nuclear assets. He said the Pakistani nation rightfully hoped from the armed forces to strengthen the country’s defense for meeting every challenge.
