Lahore: Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Farrukh Javed has said that forty persons of market committees have been made OSD during this week on the charges of negligence and now such negligent people would be terminated from their services. He said that relief would be given to the people at all costs and artificial shortage or price-hike of edibles would not be tolerated. He said that the prices of tomatoes have been reduced from Rs.200 to Rs.100 while these prices would further be reduced. He directed Price Control Magistrates to ensure provision of daily food items to the masses at fixed rates at all costs.
He was talking to the citizens during his visit to various Sunday Bazars of the City, today. The Minister visited Wahdat Road Sunday Bazar and expressed his anguish over non-availability of tomatoes. On the action of Minister Agriculture, tomatoes were made available in the market on which the citizens thanked the Minister. Dr. Farrukh Javed also visited Shadman Sunday Bazar and inquired from the consumers about the quality and provision of vegetables.
Provincial Minister visited Johar Town Sunday Bazar and asked from the consumers about the quality and availability of commodities. Talking to the citizens, he said that the prices of vegetables have been reduced during the last few days which will further be reduced and in a few days, the prices would normalize. He said that now all the responsible staff would be available in uniform in every market for redressing complaints of the customers. He said that a toll free number is being provided to the citizens for registering their complaints. He said that Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister, would ensure protection of rights of both farmers and consumers.
