No accused would be spare involved in Rawalpindi incident:CM Punjab

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab has said any officer who had shown leniency while on duty at Raja Bazar Rawalpindi will be punished along with the accused who were involved in this tragic incident,nothing is different between the attackers and the officials who closed their eyes rather to stopped them.

He was talking to senior officers of administration, police and security institutions who performed the duty of maintaining law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram, here today.

Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Home Secretary, Commissioner Lahore Division, Additional IG Special Branch, CCPO Lahore and other concerned officers were present. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that nothing could be more important than maintenance of law and order in the province and maximum resources would be provided for this purpose.

While meeting with the Punjab’s administrations officers who performed their duty during Muharram,CM appreciated them for maintaining peace during Muharram and said they had made good arrangements to maintain peace during Muharram,Law and order situation was good in the whole province but one incident shaken the foundations of the country.He said judicial commission and fact finding committee were working and who ever marked in their inquiries would be dealt strictly and punished for his crimes.

He said that Elite Force was formed to curb heinous crimes but it was assigned other responsibilities. He directed that Elite Force be used only and only for protection of life and property of citizens and eradication of crime and be exempted from other duties. He directed that recommendations be submitted to him in this regard. He said that improvement of law and order is the top priority of the government and concerned institutions should perform their duties in this regard as a challenge. He appreciated CCPO Lahore Ch. Muhammad Shafique on the excellent security arrangements in the provincial metropolis.

Chief Secretary Punjab, Naveed Akram Cheema said that no effort will be spared under the leadership of Chief Minister for ensuring peace and law and order in the province.

Inspector General Police, Khan Baig said that no untoward incident took place in the province during Muharram-ul-Haram except Rawalpindi. He said that implementation of the security plan has yielded positive results. He said that police would continue to perform its duties with commitment and dedication for protecting life and property of people and eradicating crime and all out energies and abilities would be utilized for this purpose. Home Secretary informed that Punjab police is being trained on modern lines with the cooperation of Turkish police.
