Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that besides political and administrative team of the Punjab government, pilots and the crew of the helicopter took an active part in relief activities in the earthquake affected area of Awaran, Baluchistan. He said that the helicopter pilots and the crew bravely faced all dangers and transported relief items to the calamity-hit area for several days. He said that the helicopter crew continued relief activities during Eid-ul-Azha holidays as well and set a noble example of service to humanity for which they should be commended.
He was addressing a simple ceremony in honour of the staff of the helicopter of Punjab government and other officials who took part in relief activities for the earthquake affected people of Baluchistan at Model Town, here today. Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Sher Ali Gorchani, Additional Chief Secretary, former Member Punjab Assembly Rana Mubashar Iqbal, Chief Pilot Col.(R) Safdar Hussain, Secretary Information, DG PDMA and other officials attended the function.
The Chief Minister distributed commendatory certificates among Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, former MPA Rana Mubashar Iqbal, DG PDMA, pilots of the helicopter and other members of the crew for taking active part in the relief activities in Awaran.
The Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while paying tributes to the helicopter staff and other officials for their service to humanity said that the entire team deserves appreciation for their joint efforts towards helping their affected brethren. He said that the way the crew of the helicopter, despite illness, discharged their important national responsibility with devotion and dedication is commendable and enhanced the image of the country and Punjab. He said that the people of Punjab are proud of the helicopter staff who worked day and night for helping their Balochi brethren in the hour of distress. He said that Punjab government and the people did not leave their Balochi brethren alone but helped the earthquake affectees generously.
