Lahore: Commissioner for Children Rights, Ombudsman Punjab, Javed N.A. Khan while reiterating to the welfare and development of children, has reassured that children rights are being duly protected so that children can freely strive to attain the objects of the becoming meaningful segment of the society through quality education, physical and mental development. He was addressing students of Madrassa-tul-Binnat in a function, arranged to commemorate the Universal Children’s Day.
Commissioner for Children Rights, Ombudsman Punjab briefed the students about the functioning of the Children Complaint Office, set up under the responsive, enabling and accountable system for children rights with the assistance of UNICEF. Children Complaint Office is here to make Punjab a safer and more secure place for the children and purpose of the office is to create friendly atmosphere for the wellbeing of the children, said the Commissioner for Child Rights. He asked the children to come forward for their rights as Ombudsman Office is ambitious to facilitate them in any matter they are concerned with. He reassured that the duty of Children Complaint Office is to protect the every right of the children.
The issue of child abuse though denied by the society and invisible to the eye is most rampant, widespread and unchecked therefore Children Complaint Office needs help of the proactive children to highlight the cases of corporal punishment, exploitation and violence against minors. Commissioner for Children Rights called for the students to lodge complaints through any means i.e. ordinary mail, e-mail, twitter, face book, phone call etc. if they observe any violation against the rights of the children in the province.
It will be a noble cause for the wellbeing of the children, contributed by the children, concluded Commissioner for Child Rights, Javed N.A. Khan. He also distributed sweets and chocolates amongst the students as a good gesture and encouragement.
