CS visits Mayo Hospital

Chief Secratary-2 Chief Secratary-3Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Naveed Akram Cheema has said that vigorous measures have been taken by the government for the treatment of dengue patients in the hospitals and eradication of dengue. He said that diagnostic and treatment facilities are being provided free of cost. He asked the people to play their active role for checking the breeding of dengue mosquito.

He said this during his visit to Mayo Hospital on 10th Muharram while talking to the attendants and inquiring after the dengue patients. Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh. Salman Rafique, Special Secretary Health Babar Hayat Tarar, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Dr. Faisal Masood, Secretary Information Momin Ali Agha, Director General Health Punjab Dr. Zahid Pervaiz and focal person on dengue Dr. Tahir Khalil were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Secretary inquired after patients and while talking about dengue awareness said that controlling breeding of dengue mosquito inside houses is very important. He stressed upon the people not to let accumulate water in their houses and eliminate hotspots of dengue breeding. Naveed Akram Cheema inquired from the patients and their attendants about the medical facilities upon which patients while expressing their satisfaction over provision of free treatment facilities thanked Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He also inquired about the health of two youth injured due to “zanjeer zani” under treatment in emergency ward. He also reviewed the arrangements of emergency treatment facilities.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary along with Advisor Health, Special Secretary, Secretary Information, DG Health and other concerned officers also checked the indoor dengue surveillance teams engaged in the work of eradicating dengue and creating awareness at Gulshan Ravi Bund Road. He also enquired from the residents of the area about the government measures, upon which, they informed that spray has been carried out while awareness regarding dengue is being created.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the performance of indoor teams comprising nursing students and appreciated their performance.  He said that despite holiday on 10th Muharram, they are performing their duty which is a great national service. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and the entire government machinery are engaged in anti-dengue activities and expressed the hope that the situation will soon be overcome.
