Lahore: Provincial Minister for Forests, Fisheries and Wildlife, Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan has said that the role of Fisheries and Forests Departments is very important in destroying dengue larvae. He said that Fisheries Department will have to ensure the breeding of that fish which eats dengue larvae. Similarly, the Forests Department should plant eucalyptus, lemon grass and coriander in the nurseries.
He said this while presiding over a briefing meeting of the officers of forests, fisheries and wildlife departments about the steps taken for eradication of dengue at Fisheries Department, Rawal Dam. He said that the complete elimination is not possible within few months as developed countries like Australia and Singapore were also affected. Therefore, there is a need of taking steps on permanent basis for elimination of nurseries of dengue larvae and dengue mosquitos, he added.
Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan directed to ensure the maximum availability of plants like eucalyptus, lemon grass and coriander in nurseries for elimination of dengue and said that awareness should also be created among the citizens to plant such saplings in their houses and inform them about the benefits of these plants.
