Missing persons families give sit in in front of PM house Model town

Missing persons families sit inLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has deplored that the present government was toeing the Zardari government’s line on the issue of missing persons and seemed to be helpless before security institutions and intelligence agencies

He was addressing a protest rally staged by the families of the missing persons in front of the Model Town residence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Friday. Begum A’mna Masood Janjua, chairperson, Defense of Human Rights, also addressed the rally.

The JI Ameer said that despite Supreme Court orders, the lifting of citizens had continued during the five year rule of the PPP and the menace was still going on. He said that dozens of missing persons had been recovered from the security agencies, yet the agencies had not stopped their unlawful practice.

He said the aged parents, wives and small children of the missing persons were protesting on roads and were searching for their lost ones but no body listened to them. The orders of the superior courts for the production of the abductees were not complied with. He said the rulers claimed to be peoples representatives but they were least concerned with peoples problems.

He urged the government to have pity on the families of the missing persons and release their dear ones in official custody.

Begum Aamna Masood Janjua , in her address, appealed for cooperation from the government in the recovery of their dear ones. She said the families of the missing persons were in distress and were facing financial hardships, and expressed the hope that the government as well as the wealthy would come forward and help these families in distress.

Meanwhile, while addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora, Syed Munawar Hasan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s statements about talks with the Taliban immediately after his US visit proved that the Washington visit had been undertaken only to seek permission for the talks. He further said, the Prime Minister had not taken up the issue of drone attacks, Dr A’fia Siddiqui or Kashmir.

The JI Ameer said the only way to stop drone attacks was to cut off NATO supplies. H said if the government still allowed the NATO supplies, it would be tantamount to axing our own feet and ruining the future of our children.

Syed Munawar Hasan said there had been no headway in the talks  even after passage of one and-a-half months of the national conference, and remarked that the secular lobby was happy over that.
