Lahore: Newly appointed Chief Secretary Punjab Naveed Akram Cheema, while expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made by DCOs for maintaining law and order and foiling nefarious designs of anti-peace elements in connection with Muharram-ul-Harram has hoped that Muharram-ul-Harram will pass peacefully.
He expressed these views while addressing DCOs’ conference at Darbar Hall of Civil Secretariat today. Additional Chief Secretary Sohail Ahmed, Provincial Home Secretary Azam Salman Khan and Secretary I&C Imdad Ullah Bosal attended the meeting.
Addressing DCOs, Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema said that although problems like maintenance of law and order during Muharram-ul-Harram, local bodies elections, price-hike and dengue virus are serious yet these problems can be overcome efficiently through commitment and wise decisions. The Chief Secretary said that he will extend every support to the DCOs if they take right decisions keeping in view the ground realities of their respective areas. He said that the administration at divisional, district and Tehsil level is the real government and it can provide best services to the people.
Earlier, Provincial Home Secretary Maj. Retd. Azam Salman Khan gave a comprehensive briefing to the Chief Secretary regarding the steps taken by Home Department for keeping a vigilant eye on anti-state elements and coping with any provocation. It may be mentioned that this was his first meeting after becoming new Chief Secretary Punjab.
