Elected governments is avoiding local government elections

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that local bodies elections were essential for the solution of the problems of the masses at grass root level and these must be held in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court.

Addressing party men at Mansoora on Saturday on return from Karachi, he said it was a national tragedy that all elected governments had been avoiding local government elections.
Syed Munawar Hasan said the people were now keenly a waiting the implementation of the Supreme Court orders in respect of the local bodies elections. He also counseled the PML(N) government not to follow the PPP which had been persistently resisting the Supreme Court orders.

The JI Ameer instructed JI workers to make full preparations for the local bodies elections in order to free the masses from the tyranny and injustice of the present government. He expressed the hope that in the local bodies polls, the masses would support the JI candidates who were both capable of and determined to free them from the clutches of the politicians sucking their blood in the name of democracy.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that as long as the tug of war between the PPP and the PML(N) continued, neither democracy could take roots in the country nor the true representatives of the masses could be elected. He said, both these parties had been exploiting the people for the last forty years and were in secret alliance for the protection of each others corruption. He said, the local bodies were the nursery of the democracy through which competent and capable people could be elected .

The JI Ameer welcomed the Supreme Court decision rejecting the government request for more time for holding local bodies polls. He said, the PPP and the PML(N) had never held local bodies elections during their tenure. In fact, the feudal lords and capitalists in these parties had taken the country as hostage because both they had fixed turns for their sons and nephews and were protecting each other’s loot and plunder. That was why the local bodies polls did not suit them.

Syed Munawar Hasan also stressed upon the Khyber P. government to announce the schedule for the LB elections in the province.
