PML-Q will support Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Punjab General Secretary Ch Zaheer ud din Khan has said that the appointment of Mian Mahmud ur Rashid as the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly is according to the constitutional procedure and parliamentary traditions.

In a statement issued here today, he said that criticism against Mian Mahmudur Rashid is unjustified and negative tactic to effect his performance as the opposition leader in the Punjab.

He said that people are facing numerous problems during the rule of the present govt, at this time strong and effective opposition is needed, in such time attempt to weaken the role of the opposition will not be good for democracy and the people.

The PML leader said that PML Punjab had supported the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly on the basis of his being leader of the majority opposition party in the Provincial Assembly and will continue to support him in future also according to the parliamentary traditions. He said that opposition leader Mian Mahmudur Rashid played his role very well inside the Punjab Assembly along with other opposition parties in the context of Punjab Govt’s controversial Local Govt Bill and delimitations of the constituencies.
