Lahore: Punjab Minister for Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that easy living and laziness are the root cause of heart diseases and people should adopt a healthy lifestyle as well as take exercise to protect themselves from cardiac diseases. Similarly, he said, smoking and fats should be avoided.
He expressed these views while addressing an awareness seminar held in connection with World Heart Day. The seminar was arranged by Punjab Institute of Cardiology in collaboration with an NGO. Renowned Cardiologist, Maj. Gen. Retd. Masood ul Hassan Noori and Dr. Amber Malik also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the causes and treatment of heart diseases.
The Minister disclosed that a chapter regarding the importance of healthy lifestyle and protection against heart and other diseases would be included in the syllabus at every level. He said that the youth would be attracted to playgrounds for creating a healthy nation.
Referring to the efforts of the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for reviving Lahore as the City of Gardens, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government would make every city of Pakistan a greener city. He said that masses should lead a simple and healthy life. He said that a person, who walks at least ten thousand steps daily, never faces cardiac problem.
The Minister said that the Punjab government has decided to hold Punjab Youth Festival from November 17, this year as well. He said that more than 250 sports events would be held at union councils, tehsil, district, division and provincial level. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that various delegations of players from friendly countries would also participate in the final competitions of Punjab Youth Festival.
