Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the savages who molested a 5-year-old girl have committed an unpardonable crime against the nation and humanity. He said that early arrest of the culprits involved in this brutal act would be ensured for bringing them to justice and preventing such tragic incidents in future.He was presiding over a high level meeting here today which reviewed the progress into investigation of the case of molestation of a minor girl of Mughalpura area of Lahore.
The Chief Minister directed Lahore police that the incident should be probed on scientific lines for apprehending the criminals and providing justice to the aggrieved family.
The Chief Minister despite being indisposed convened a meeting of senior officers at his residence and took a briefing. He also issued necessary instructions to police. CCPO Lahore, DIG Investigation, DCO Lahore and officers concerned were present on the occasion.
Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister said that the criminals involved in this inhuman act do not deserve to be called humans and will be apprehended as soon as possible and awarded due punishment. He said that police officers if found guilty of dereliction of duty would not be spared. He said that no innocent person should be unduly harassed while only the guilty persons should be arrested. He said that this deplorable incident has tarnished the image of the country and is intolerable in any civilized society.
The Chief Minister said that it is the responsibility of police officers to trace the criminals involved in this dastardly act for their early arrest. He assured that justice would be provided to the aggrieved family. The Chief Minister was informed that investigation teams of police are trying to identify the culprits with the help of CCTV footage and some suspects have been arrested. Meanwhile, maximum treatment facilities are being provided to the victim in the hospital.
