Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that there are vast opportunities of investment in Punjab. He said that local and foreign investors have signed a number of agreements for investment in energy and other sectors due to investment-friendly policies of the government.
He stressed the need for strengthening diplomatic and trade relations between Pakistan and Germany. He said that German investors should visit Pakistan to explore prospects of investment while Pakistan should benefit from the expertise and experiences of Germany in industrial sector.
He was addressing a function arranged by Pak-German Business Forum, here today. German Ambassador Cyrill Nunn, German Consul General Dr. Tilo Klinner, Provincial Energy Minister Sher Ali Khan and prominent Pakistani industrialists were present.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated Lahore office of Pak-German Business Forum. Addressing the function, the Chief Minister referred to close relations between Pakistan and Germany and said that a number of projects are being implemented in Punjab with the cooperation of Germany. He also stressed the need for further promoting trade and economic relations between the two countries. He said that German investors should benefit from investment opportunities in Punjab especially in energy sector.
The Chief Minister said that besides traditional methods of generation of power, production of electricity from alternative sources such as solar power is also being encouraged. He said that one-window facility would be provided for investment in energy sector.
The Chief Minister said that bureaucracy should adopt the policy of Red Carpet instead of red-tapeism for promotion of economic activities and investment so that investment targets could be achieved. The Chief Minister assured that foolproof security would be provided to foreign investors in Punjab.
