Punjab Emergency Service observes World Humanitarian Day

Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) marked World Humanitarian Day on Monday with commitment to work for prevention of emergencies in all Districts of Punjab upon directions of DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer, who appealed to citizens to come forward & stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Rescue 1122 for assistance for flood affectees. He said that poor enforcement of fire & life safety provisions in high rise buildings are putting the lives of citizens and rescuers at risk like in Gakhar Plaza, Rawalpindi. This day reminds us to recognize and commemorate sacrifices of rescuers, firefighters and volunteers who lost their lives and faced adversity in order to help for life saving activities world over.DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer flanked by rescuers visiting flood sites in Narowal District

On this World Humanitarian Day, the Emergency Service Rescue 1122 being the Pakistan’s largest humanitarian emergency service honored all the humanitarians, who worked for humanity and lost their lives in the line of duty. Although the best Humanitarian Emergency Service has been established, which has created a sense of safety in Pakistan & has rescued two million victims of emergencies so far, but preventive measures can ensure safety of human life.

While addressing the rescue officers/officials at Rescue 1122 Headquarters, Dr. Rizwan Naseer said every year on August 19th we mark World Humanitarian Day in honour of aid workers, who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that timely emergency medical care is basic right of humanity. He stated that World Humanitarian Day is a day dedicated to recognize humanitarian personnel and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes.He said that we commemorate their sacrifices and reaffirm our commitment to the lifesaving work that humanitarians carry out around the world every day, often in difficult and dangerous circumstances, where others cannot or do not want to go. He sincerely hoped that the governments of other provinces would also take initiatives of providing the basic right to emergency medical care of their citizens like Punjab, KPK, Gilgit Baltistan.
