Government is determined to control dengue: Khalil Tahir Sindhu

Minister Health-1 Minister Health-3Lahore: Provincial Minister for Health, Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and the provincial government are determined to control dengue and the collective efforts of the government departments, people and media are showing positive results in this year as well like the last year. He said that despite heavy rains there has not been any growth of dengue mosquito at a large scale.

He was addressing a dengue awareness seminar at Children Hospital, here today. Medical Director Prof. Ahsan Wahid Rathor, Prof. Masood Sadiq, focal person on dengue Dr. Haroon as well as a large number of doctors and nurses of the hospital were present on the occasion. Focal person on dengue of Children Hospital, Dr. Haroon gave a detailed lecture on diagnosis and treatment of dengue patients for the benefit of doctors and nurses as well as provided useful information about the symptoms, laboratory test, fluid management and treatment of dengue patients. He said that timely diagnosis and better case management can help in treatment of even a serious patient of dengue.

Khalil Tahir Sindhu while speaking on the occasion, said that the purpose of observing anti-dengue day is to promote public awareness about dengue and motivate the people to play their due role to curb the breeding of dengue mosquito by adopting preventive measures. He said that vigorous community participation is necessary for controlling dengue problem. Appreciating media, the Minister said that it has played a commendable role in spreading the message of the government in every nook and corner and promoting public awareness against dengue mosquito. He said that dengue will not be allowed to go out of control this year as well and every effort will be made with the cooperation of stakeholders for cubing this menace.

Khalil Tahir Sindhu made an appeal to people to maintain sanitary condition in their houses as well as neighborhood. He said that there have been more rains this year than the previous year therefore responsibilities of the government and general public have increased and they will have to show complete dedication and commitment for curbing dengue.

The Minister further said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, free diagnostic and treatment facilities are being provided to dengue patients in all public sector hospitals and besides isolation wards, high dependency units have also been set up for dengue patients.
