Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan has strongly condemned the massacre of thousands of peaceful demonstrators in Cairo by the Egyptian army and termed it something unprecedented.
Addressing a huge sit-in staged in the federal capital on Sunday against the ouster of Egypt’s elected president Dr Mursi and the massacre of his supporters by the Egyptian army, Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, said the US and the west were trying to push the Islamic movements to the wall but their conspiracies won’t succeed..He said that the Egyptian people were staging peaceful protest over the unlawful ouster of their elected president Dr Mursi as was their democratic right. He said, the Islamic movements were being prevented from coming to power through democratic process.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that although the US had demanding lifting of emergency in Egypt, it had not given any reaction over the bloodletting on Wednesday.
Syed Munawar Hasan deplored that the armies of the Muslims states had always conquered their own countries and opened firing on their own people. The conduct of the Muslim armies had vindicated the stance of former Al-Ikhwan leader Aimanul Zawahiri that the Islamic movements wont be allowed to come to power through democratic process, therefore he decided to adopt a different approach and joined the Al-Qaida.
He said Egyptians army’s unconstitutional step under the patronage of the US and the west and its brutal killings of peaceful protestors demanding restoration of the elected government had pushed Egypt towards a civil war.
The big rally held at the Aab Para chowk, was also addressed by PTI central leader and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmud Quresi, besides JI chiefs of the Khyber P. and the Punjab. Hundreds of the protestors were holding photographs of Dr. Mursi and raised slogans against Egyptian army chief Gen. Sisi, the US and Israel.
