Malik suspends District Zakat Officer Faisalabad

Malik Nadeem KamranLahore: Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr, Malik Nadeem Kamran has issued orders for action and registration of cases under section 21 of Zakat & Ushr Ordinance 1980 against chairmen of 12 local zakat committee of Jaranwala on the charges of non-provision of funds to deserving persons, changing of healthcare funds to subsistence allowance, and distribution of funds meant for the blind among normal deserving persons.

He issued these orders while presiding over a review meeting held in connection with distribution of funds among deserving persons. Secretary Zakat and Ushr Jehanzeb Khan, Administrator Zakat & Ushr Muhammad Yousaf Butt and other concerned officers were present on the occasion. The Minister said that no irregularity will be tolerated in the distribution of funds for Mustahqeen.

Malik Nadeem Kamran also issued orders for suspension of District Zakat Officer Faisalabad and other concerned staff for dereliction of duty and initiation of strict departmental action against them. The Minister has nominated five Deputy Administrators Zakat (Monitoring and Evaluation) as inquiry officer for the audit of the accounts of 303 local zakat committees of Faisalabad. These include Deputy Administrators of Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Sargodha and Gujranwala. He directed that these administrators to submit their report within 20 days after completing their inquiry. He said that indiscriminate action would be taken against the concerned officers and chairmen zakat committees in case of any irregularity in the distribution of funds among deserving persons anywhere in the province.
