Lahore: Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Farrukh Javed visited Citrus Research Institute Sargodha today where he was received by MNA Mohsin Ranjha, Additional Secretary Agriculture Ahmad Ali Zafar and Director Citrus Research Institute Altaf ur Rehman Khan. Dr. Farrukh Javed presided over a seminar regarding production of kino. The seminar was also attended by farmers of citrus fruits and exports. The farmers apprised the Minister of problems being faced by them like increasing cost of production of citrus, hurdles in its export and shortage of water.
Addressing the seminar, Dr. Farrukh Javed said that Punjab government is making policies in consultation with the farmers and exporters for resolution of their problems. The Minister said that he has come to Sargodha on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and every possible help would be provided to farmers in production of Kino. He also assured the farmers and exporters of government’s cooperation and appreciated their efforts for increasing foreign exchange. The Minister also constituted a high level committee headed by MNA Mohsin Ranjha while its members will include DCO Sargodha, two representatives each of farmers and exporters, EDO Agriculture, S.E. Irrigation, representatives of supply chain and Director Citrus Research Institute. Later, the Minister visited experimental fields of kino and directed to launch training courses programme for farmers.
