Lahore: Ambassador of Sweden to Pakistan, Mr. Lars-Hjalmar Wide, has acknowledged that Pakistani entrepreneurs are proactively engaged with Swedish companies to enhance their capacity. He has also affirmed that Swedish companies that have already initiated their operations in Pakistan are very comfortable with the business environment provided here. Swedish envoy was talking to Chief Executive Officer, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) Javed Akbar Bhatti and his team during his visit to PBIT office.
Mr. Lars-Hjalmar Wide assumed office as Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan in late 2011. He previously led a Green Tech delegation from Sweden to visit PBIT and actively participated in Green Tech seminars in February 2013. Mr. Wide informed CEO Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, Javed Akbar Bhatti, about a potential follow-up visit of Swedish Clean Tech companies to Pakistan in fall this year.
After been briefed about the developments in Special Economic Zones in Punjab by CEO PBIT Javed Akbar Bhatti, Mr. Wide showed keen interest in inviting potential Swedish companies to explore the untapped opportunities in Pakistani markets. Mr. Wide also took the opportunity to communicate Sweden’s full support for Pakistan to gain the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) Plus status subject to implementation of international conventions. Mr. Wide also acknowledged the efforts of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade in playing a vital role in enhancing trade and economic potential of the province and termed his stay in Pakistan as a memorable one.
