Lahore: Vice President Saarc Chamber of Commerce Iftikhar Ali Malik on Friday said government and the business community is keeping women empowerment high on its agenda.
He said that FPCCI and Saarc Chamber will support all the initiatives to empower female entrepreneurs.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said this while inaugurating a two-day 20th Lifestyle expo organised by Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) at a local hotel.
Founder president IWCCI Samina Fazil, VP FPCCI Sheikh Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Farida Rashid, Alia Ikram, Malik Sohail and others were also present on the occasion.
Malik said that we need continued political and financial commitment from all the stakeholders to fight for women’s rights.
Women leaders from politics, business, civil society and Other walks of life should unite to strive for the noble cause of enhancing their contribution in every discipline and ensuring gender equality, he said.
The veteran business leader said, “I am aware that the full empowerment of women is still a distant call, therefore, I remain strongly committed to maintain our steady level of efforts to attain the goal.”
This expo is an important event for the empowerment, education, entertainment and networking of women and I wish it every success, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Samina Fazil and Farida Rashid said that our objective is to empower women and we want that women’s rights must be respected and protected everywhere.
The exhibition highlighted jewellery, handicrafts, garments, paintings, weaving, beadwork, baskets, embroidery and other traditional folk arts.
