Ombudsman office advisors spent a field day

Lahore: On the directions of Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood, all advisors of regional offices at Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Multan and Ombudsman Office at Lahore worked in field on Wednesday.

Ten advisors visited Lahore and its suburb areas, three Sargodha, two Rawalpindi, two Multan and one advisor visited various areas of Kasur and reviewed on the spot news items and reports published and telecast in print and electronic media and the complaints received in the office of Ombudsman Punjab. People also handed over their written complaints to the advisors and the Ombudsman Office will inform the complainants through tracking numbers.

Advisors reviewed the prices and quality of edible items, problems of encroachments, traffic and parking. During the visits, the advisors reviewed sports facilities, parking fee, facilities and problems, child labour and beggary, performance of police at check posts and complaints of the people, overloading on vehicles and facilities for the prisoners. They also checked substandard soft drinks, meals, standard of construction of roads and the condition of footpaths.

Advisor Rana Aman Ullah Khan visited Services Hospital and besides checking the performance of machinery and equipments, provision of medicines and facilities for the patients, also got opinion of the people about hospital canteen, medical store, emergency and parking. Advisor Kabeer Ahmed Khan visited Tolinton Market in the early morning and noon and checked the standard of cleanliness and quality of chicken meat.

Advisor Talat Masood Tariq visited Shahdara, Ravi Bridge, Circular Road, Aiwan-e-Adal, Mall Road and Hafeez Centre and reviewed on the spot complaints about traffic and parking. Advisor Wazir Ahmed Qureshi visited AG Office and reviewed the problems of government employees being faced by them in AG office about salaries and other financial matters. Advisor Safdar Mahmood visited Kasur for reviewing pollution and other problems being created by the tanneries. Advisor Raza Mehdi reviewed facilities being provided by the private schools to the children, Advisor Muhammad Alamgir Khan reviewed facilities being provided to the prisoners, Advisor Zia ur Rehman reviewed facilities being provided to the people in play grounds and parking fee, Advisor Farooq Saeed reviewed complaints about absence of footpaths for pedestrians and encroachments and Advisor Abdul Salam Khawar reviewed the complaints about construction and repair of roads, streetlights and air pollution.

Ombudsman Punjab has directed all advisors to submit the reports of their visits so that further action could be taken in the light of these reports.  He said that the process of redressing the complaints and providing relief to the people at their doorstep has been started which would yield positive results.
