drones were the biggest challenge before the next government: Munawar Hasan

pic syed munawar hasan (6)Lahore:  While condemning the drone attack in North Waziristan on Wednesday, Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the drones were the biggest challenge before the next government.

In a  press statement, he said if the new rulers did not evolve a policy to stop the drone attacks killing innocent citizens every day, they would soon loose the confidence of the masses.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that according to the reports of US institutions, the drone attacks were not achieving even two percent of the targets while 98 per cent of those being killed were innocent people. He noted that justice loving nations and communities all over the world had been condemning the drone attacks and reputed international institutions had termed the drone attacks a blatant violation of international laws. However, the US, the so called champion of human rights was continuing the drone attacks in violation of all international laws and regulations.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that the nation had pinned high hopes from the new government about getting rid of the US so called war on terror. The masses wanted the armed forces to take every possible step for the defense of the country’s borders. At the same time, the people wanted the armed forces to give an effective reply to every aggression from abroad including the US, for the security of the life and property of the citizens.

He said that the PML(N) chief, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had in his party manifesto, vowed that the drone attacks wont be tolerated and that no body would be allowed to violate the ideological and geographical borders of the country.

The JI Ameer made it clear that the JI wont allow any step that violated the country’s honour and sovereignty, nor would it compromise as for the country’s ideological and physical boundaries were concerned.

He said it was the responsibility of the new government to lodge protest with  Washington over the drone attacks and also evolve an effective strategy to seek the world community’s support on the issue.
