Lahore: The outbreak has claimed lives of nine more children in Lahore, alarming the authorities to necessary measures to bring the situation under control. According to sources, five minors died in Children Hospital, three others passed away in Mayo Hospital and another child died in Jinnah Hospital.

Health Department officials are of the view that situation will be brought under control after two or three weeks when children are get proper anti-measles vaccination.
Tall claims of the government have proved futile as the disease of measles could not be controlled.
The spokesman said that the anti-measles campaign was launched in Lahore from April 29 to May 05 and the recent deaths have no link with the vaccine of measles. He pointed out that that if any child suffers from measles, he does not need vaccination and immunity develops naturally in the patient.
Meanwhile,Punjab Chief Minister, Najam Sethi, while issuing instructions for more effective steps for controlling measles in the province, has directed that maximum resources should be utilized for saving children from this disease. He said that life of every child is precious and no effort should be spared in the treatment of the affected children. He further directed that best medical facilities should be provided to the patients of measles in hospitals.
He said Helpline 0800-99000 has been fully activated for providing information to the people about preventive measures against measles.
On the other hand,YDA Pakistan has
demanded judicial inquiry into the causes of measles epidemic leading to 131 deaths in Punjab WHO report indicates that its the negligence at the highest level by health dept, who have failed to purchase the vaccine for the measles. Three crore vaccine is required and they have only 70 lac.
