Lahore: Jamaat e Islami’s deputy Secretary General, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, said Sunday that the oppressive load shedding in the Punjab capital was because of the corrupt LESCO officers appointed by the outgoing government against heavy bribes.
In a statement here, he said that the kith and kin of the former Prime ministers and ministers who had been inducted on senior posts in LESCO were selling electricity to different factories and markets on several time higher prices. While some areas of the city were having load shedding up to 18 hours, some parts of the city were having two or three hours load shedding a day.
Besides, he said, LESCO officials were charging common consumers up to additional three hundred units to make up for the electricity thefts.
He warned that if the corrupt LESCO officers did not stop their ill practices, the masses would be constrained to rise against them.
