Lahore: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Najam Sethi has said that provision of best health facilities to the common man is the foremost duty of the government. He stressed the need for streamlining health infrastructure on solid basis for providing quality-oriented health treatment to the people. He said that besides government, private sector is also playing an important role for the promotion of health education.
Addressing the conference, Chief Minister Najam Sethi said that quality treatment can be provided to the people by improving the medical facilities. He said that more attention is paid to the patients in western countries as compared to Pakistan. He stressed the need for paying special attention to post operation care so that patients could be looked-after properly and they should not face any problem during medical treatment.
The Chief Minister said that there is a need of paying more attention to the medical and health-care sectors so that best medical treatment facilities could be ensured to the patients in the hospitals. Najam Sethi said that it is a matter of pleasure for him to participate in the Second Annual Health Trigone Conference at University of Lahore today. He termed the holding of this conference as a welcoming step for health care sector.
He was addressing the inaugural session of Second Annual Health Trigone Conference at University of Lahore, Raiwind today. Provincial Secretary Information Amjad Hussain, senior professors, doctors, pharmacists, experts and a large number of students participated in the conference.

The Chief Minister said that Health Insurance System has been established in the western countries but there is no such system in Pakistan. Najam Sethi said that there is a need of introducing health insurance system in Pakistan. He said participation of the students and women in the inaugural session of the conference in a large number reflects that women are not lagging behind to the men in any field. He appealed to the women that they should play their active role in the society and after completion of their education, they should utilize their abilities in practical field as well as looking after the domestic affairs as country and the nation direly needed it.
He said, no doubt, women are half of the population of the country and without their active role, the country cannot make progress. He stressed that women should not sit at home after completing their education rather they should work for the betterment of the nation and the country. The Chief Minister said that the world has become a global village due to rapid progress and the importance of languages in the development of the nations is an admitted fact. He said that it is essential to have a command on English Language but besides this, we should not ignore our national and mother language.
He said that English has become a global language and it is also called as language of business and trade. He stressed that competency in English Language is important for the new generation to compete with the developed nations of the world. He congratulated the administration of the University of Lahore for holding the Second Annual Health Trigone Conference.
Chairman Board of Governors, University of Lahore, Muhammad Owais Rauf presented welcome address, while Rector University of Lahore Dr. Mahmood Ahmed Qazi, welcoming the Chief Minister said that Najam Sethi is a pride of the country. The Dean Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lahore Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmed gave a presentation on the topic of “pharmaco vigilance”.
