Lahore: Former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif Monday appealed to people to set differences related to elections aside and work for a progressive and self-reliant Pakistan.
“We all have to work together for the welfare and well-being of our people,” Shahbaz told various delegations at his Raiwind residence. He said that allegations of rigging during elections in Punjab were baseless and people had also refused to buy all such claims. He advised those who had lost elections to review their policies and attitude towards general masses instead of making false claims.
“No party can call itself the true representative of people while ignoring the needs of clerks who have to travel by bus, energy-starved shopkeepers, students from government institutions, poor farmers and millions of other downtrodden Pakistani men and women,” the former CM said. He said that projects such as Metro Bus Service, Laptop Distribution Scheme, Ashiana Housing Scheme and Ujala Programme were aimed at making common man the major beneficiary of national resources. He said that not only the scope of these projects would be widened but various new schemes, including National Health Insurance Policy, would be introduced.
“Now when people have given a fresh mandate to the PML-N, it is my utmost desire that the people of Pakistan work hand in hand for nation building and a strong, prosperous Pakistan,” he said.
