1122 needs high ladders to to strengthen its capacity :Dr. Rizwan Naseer

Lahore: The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer has directed the top management of Rescue 1122 to review its operational guidelines and also District Lahore (Emergency Services) to strengthen its capacity particularly to manage emergencies in high rise buildings.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of senior rescue officers at Emergency Services Academy on Monday and thoroughly discussed all aspects of rescue operation at LDA Plaza, Edgerton Road, Lahore. The DG Rescue Punjab expressed his deep grief and sorrow over this unfortunate incident and further requested all the owners of high rise buildings to ensure provision of external emergency florescent exits, signs, staircases at all corners of their buildings and internal fire hydrants so that fire vehicles must not have to go away for filling of water tanks, thus causing obstacles and delay in fire fighting. In review, the need for 200 turntable ladders along with other fire fighting and life safety equipment was also identified and capacity building of Rescue Wing of Rescue 1122 has also been ordered by the Director General.

Dr. Rizwan Naseer has also requested the owners of high rise buildings to remove all towers from rooftops of their buildings so that recue of trapped persons by helicopters may easily be carried out without any hindrance in fire fighting. He further said that fire rescuers are always there to risk their own lives to save the lives and properties of citizens as several fire rescuers have lost their lives in the line of duty.
