Lahore: A 46-member delegation of under-training officers of Punjab Administrative Services besides correspondent of British newspapers ‘The Guardian’ and ‘The Observer’, John Bonn visited Provincial Election Monitoring Cell at Civil Secretariat, today and were given a briefing by Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Dr. Omar Saif regarding the functioning of the monitoring cell.
Dr. Omar Saif told that Provincial Election Monitoring Cell has already addressed 96% of public complaints. He said that foolproof arrangements have been made for holding fair and transparent elections on May 11. He said that the monitoring cell is working round-the-clock and has resolved 11236 public complaints so far from all over the province. He said that with the help of android mobile phones, and cooperation of district administration, NGOs and Election Commission, immediate action is taken over any violation of the code of conduct for elections and the complaint is forwarded to concerned officer for immediate action.
He said that effective monitoring is being carried out besides dispatch of electoral material to its destination. He said that the cell would monitor all election activities on the polling day. He said that besides monitoring electoral activities, the cell has also helped in elimination of dengue, measles, purchase of wheat, load-shedding management besides controlling danger of flood.
