Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has appealed to the nation to observe Friday, May 10, as Youm e Dua, and pray to Almighty Allah for the preservation of the integrity and solidarity of the country, for holding peaceful elections and for the success of pious, honest and patriotic leadership in the polls.
In a statement issued here on Monday, he said that general elections were being held in a situation when lawlessness was on the peak, bomb blasts were occurring every day and the candidates and their election offices were being targeted. The subversive activities of the anti stage elements were on the increase and there was a situation of chaos and uncertainty all around.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that the previous rulers had turned the country into a US orchard that promoted terrorism, and the country’s independence and sovereignty remained at stake. Secret agencies of the US, India and Israel got full opportunity to carry on their activities. Drone attacks killed thousands of innocent citizens and the country’s geographical boundaries were violated freely. The rulers continued plunder of the national resources, the country’s economy, including agriculture and industry were ruined and it was facing a serious energy crisis.
He said, Allah Almighty had now provided another opportunity to the nation to choose their rulers and change their fate through the ballot. Therefore, the people should exercise their right to vote prudently and elect those who had a clean past record, and were capable of freeing the country from US slavery and restore its image in the comity of the nations.
