JI condemns case against Syed Munawar Hassan

pic munawwar hasanLahore: A spokesman of the Jamaat e Islami, has condemned the registration of a false case against the JI Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan and JI leaders at Gujranwala on the charge of violation of the code of conduct for the elections.

The spokesman has called upon the Chief Election Commissioner and the care taker Punjab Chief Minister to take notice of the unlawful conduct of the SP city Gujranwala for the registration of the false case and for trying to sabotage the JI election rally in the city on Friday by blocking all roads to the venue of the public meeting and trying to harass the JI workers.

The spokesman said that the case had been registered against the JI leadership for putting up a flex at the stage which proved the partiality of the police officer as the Election Commission had not banned such flexes.

Meanwhile, Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has
said that the Election Commissioner was not discharging its duties towards ensuring fair, free and impartial elections in Karachi.
Talking to the media men at Karachi air port, he said fair and free polls were not possible in Karachi without removing the No Go areas. He said that the care taker government had completely failed in maintaining law and order. He said the Election Commission had not heeded to the JI’s protests nor complied with the Supreme Court orders for preparing new voters lists, and delimitation of the constituencies.

While condemning the murder of an ANP candidate in Karachi on Friday, he said each and every candidate had the right to carry on his election campaign freely. However, he said that the JI workers in Karachi were being tortured , abducted and harassed and the banners and posters of the JI candidates were being pulled down and torn apart, and their flags and election offices were being set on fire.
He said the terrorists in the port city had been given a free hand, yet the JI was prepared to participate in the polls. He said that a big election meeting was being held in Karachi on Sunday as would send a message of hope to the people of the mega city and motivate them to come on out of their homes on May 11 and exercise their democratic right.
