Lahore: The Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Anwar has said that foundation has issued ten thousand educational vouchers under the project of imparting free education to the poor children.
He expressed these views during meeting with a five member delegation of educationists led by Muhammad Akram at his residence today. Talking to the delegation, Raja Anwar informed that Punjab Education Foundation is issuing ten thousand vouchers during the 10th phase of extension in education vouchers scheme.
He said that these vouchers will be given to deserving and needy children of 28 selected districts so that they could study in the nearby schools of their choice. He said that education vouchers scheme is a revolutionary project of spreading free education under which free of cost education is already being provided to 140000 deserving students up to matric level in 36 districts of the province. He observed that the EVS has given the fundamental right of education to the students mostly belonging to the impecunious strata and added that this has helped them to improve the quality of life through education.
The foundation has also helped the child labourers and house maids to join schools through vouchers scheme, he added. On the occasion, the delegation members lauded the role of EVS in the promotion of education.
