Energy needs can be met through bio gas plants:Shehzada Ahsan

Chairman NFC 01 {Apr24-13}Lahore: Federal Industries & Production Minister Shehzada Ahsan Ashraf Shaikh visited the head office of National Fertilizers Corporation (NFC) here today.

NFC Chairman Rizwan Mumtaz Ali gave detailed briefing to the Federal Minister about the aims and objectives of the National Fertilizers Corporation and its performance.

On this occasion, National Fertilizers Marketing Limited (NFML) Managing Director Tariq Shafiq Khan and senior officers of NFC were among those present.

Federal Industries and Production Minister directed that regional offices of the NFC should be established in Peshawar and Quetta and new Fertilizer Policy should be formulated.

Appreciating the performance of the NFC and its subsidiaries, he said that in view of increasing requirements of fertilizers in the country and shortage of natural gas, the national organizations like NFC should formulate far reaching policy on priority basis. He said that in these circumstances, there is also dire need for working on alternate methods for production of fertilizers through gas. He said that through installation of biogas plants in an integrated manner not only country can become self-sufficient in fertilizers but also can meet growing energy needs. He said that not only organic fertilizer produced by biogas plants can meet local needs of fertilizers but also can be exported in view of growing demand throughout the world for crops produced by organic fertilizer. He said organic fertilizer is not only the best and healthy but its cost much less than imported fertilizer and the country can earn substantial foreign exchange through its exports.
