Educated youth can change Pakistan’ fate:Ch Shujaat Hussain

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and candidate from NA-105 Gujrat Ch Parvez Elahi have said that youth are future of Pakistan, they cannot make progress without being provided maximum educational facilities, during our tenure as the Chief Minister in Punjab we had given Vision-2020 Programme in which education, health, youth and farmers were on top but was stopped by those who came into power after us and were indulged in gimmicks for all the five years.

They said this while addressing students of the Gujrat University in Gujrat today and big election meetings at different places. The students included Gujrat University students of Sindh, Balochistan and other areas who paid glowing tributes to Ch Parvez Elahi for establishing this great university.

Addressing the students, Ch Shujat Hussain said that when he had laid the foundation stone of the Gujrat University, large number of people wanted it to be named as Ch Zahoor Elahi Shaheed University but we had told them that this was not our personal university, Gujrat is the land of recepients of Nishan-e-Haider and laying down their lives for the Motherland and as such it was named Gujrat University. He said, he was happy that future of the country is in the hands of talented and intelligent students present on the occasion.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that use of improper language against political opponent is an ample proof that Nawaz Sharif is victim of despair. He said that Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif during their tenure indulged in open hostility towards Gujrat and people of Gujrat, instead of doing anything for Gujrat University they even withdrew transport and other facilities given to the students and increased fees three times. He said if we got the opportunity again Insha-Allah fees of the university will be reduced and free transport will be provided because we have invested in the future of Gujrat, N-League candidates cannot befool the people through statement mongering.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that poor man has two basic problems that his child should get education and in case of sickness or accident, he should get timely assistance, for this we had made education free up to Matric and provide free medicines in emergency, launched 1122 service, increased salary of doctors working in emergency to Rs 50 thousand, 30 lakhs out of two crore children who were not going to schools were brought into the schools, 64 thousand schools were upgraded, established 42 new degree colleges, distribution of lap tops is no solution of problem of education, now Insha-Allah we will make education free up to BA. Continuing, Ch Parvez Elahi said that we had formulated Vision 2020 Programme after consulting the experts of international level implementation of which would have changed the fate of Punjab. He said education and health were on top in our priorities, educational policies of our tenure were not only appreciated every year in the annual meetings of the World Bank but even today our Education Programme is being taught as a module in Kennedy School of Harvard. He said that we have told the way of progress, development and prosperity and now it is up to the people to take it to the destination.

Speaking on the occasion, former Provincial Education Minister Mian Imran Masood said that like every year Ch Parvez Elahi has also himself paid fees of students of the Gujrat University even this year which is a proof of his love for the youth of Gujrat and education.
