Health department starts awareness campaign against measles

Lahore: On the special directive of Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi, a comprehensive public awareness campaign is continuing by Punjab government for eradication of measles throughout the province.

Public awareness helpline 0800-99000 has been fully activated, from where citizens can acquire necessary information regarding preventive measures against measles. Injections are being provided in all hospitals and medical centers for protection from measles. Government is providing all resources required for protecting the children from measles on priority basis. People are being informed constantly about the preventive measures from measles through newspapers and electronic media.

Vaccination is being administered to the children on war-footings, especially in measles affected areas. All possible steps are being taken for government and health department level for the treatment of measles affected children. More than fifty lakh injections are available in the stock of provincial health department for protecting from measles.

Comprehensive arrangements have been made for free treatment of measles in all government hospitals and Punjab government is taking immediate steps for vaccination to the children for saving them from measles throughout the province.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Najam Sethi has appealed to the people that the parents by realizing their national responsibility should get vaccinated their children for protecting them against measles.
