Lahore: Punjab Minister for Population Welfare, Saleema Hashmi has said that top priority should be given to the health of mother and child as tier increasing death rate in developing countries is lamentable.
She expressed these views while talking to the media on the occasion of inauguration of family planning website of Population Welfare Department at Garden Town, here today. Secretary Altaf Aizad Khan, Additional Secretary Naeem-ud-Din, Dr. Atiya Masroor, Director General Qaisar Saleem, Director Planning, Sajjad Akbar Dr.Afshan Tahir, Director Admin Maalik Bhola and others were also present on the occasion.
Saleema Hashmi said it is necessary for meeting the demands of 21st century that we should fully benefit from computer technology. She said that website of Population Welfare www.pwd.punjab.gov.pkshould be in Urdu language for the benefit of the people. She said that increasing population is a global issue and effective planning is required to meet this problem.
She said taht while benefiting from the experiences of Bangla Desh, Indonesia and other countries, we should inform the people through Ulema and community service and Population Welfare Department should give importance to the increasing population problem and its solution in all its policies. She said that acquiring of necessary information has become possible through this website. Secretary Population Welfare Altaf Aizad Khan said that due to internet technology, every person can get information through website. Later, he also presented a memorial shield to the Provincial Minister.
The Minister gave shields to the officers and officials developing the website.
