617 Road Traffic accidents reported in Punjab in a day

Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has managed 617 Road Traffic Crashes in all 36 Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which 04 precious lives were lost and 547 victims were seriously injured whereas 259 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.

These 617 road traffic crashes affected 106 pedestrians; 385 passengers and 319 drivers. Total 112 RTAs took place in Lahore with 145 victims placing the Provincial capital at top of the list followed by 72 in Faisalabad with 84 victims and Gujranwala remained at third position with 53 RTAs and 55 victims.

According to the data of Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 810 RTA’s victims, 652 were males and 158 females, while age group of the victims show that 145 were under 18 year of age, 492 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 173 victims were reported above 40 years. The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included 550 motorbikes, 60 auto rickshaws, 58 motor cars, 25 van, 06 passenger buses, 09 trucks, 57 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving vehicles.
