Every school would be sealed where dengue found:Provincial Secretary Schools

Lahore: Provincial Secretary Schools, Muhammad Aslam Kamboh has said that government and private educational institutions failing to take preventive measures against dengue virus or conducting two zero periods once a week for creating awareness against dengue, will be sealed.

He was presiding over a meeting of Emergency Response Committee Samanabad Town, here today. Muhammad Aslam Kamboh directed Town officers to especially check store rooms, bath rooms, and roofs of public and private-sector schools in their respective towns to ensure cleanliness. He directed entomologist to monitor areas across the embankment especially those areas where dengue larvae was detected last year.

Meanwhile, Secretary Environment Sher Alam Mahsood while presiding over a meeting of dengue response committee in Wahga Town said that the trend of shifting responsibility on other departments regarding cleanliness affairs should be checked. He said that strict monitoring of junkyards, tyre shops, graveyards and other hot spots of dengue should be carried out and their fresh survey be conducted. He further issued instructions for desilting of drain at Javed Ashraf Shaheed Road in Shalimar area.

Secretary Labour Punjab, Ahsan Iqbal while presiding over a meeting of Emergency Response Committee Ravi Town said that dengue awareness posters should be pasted outside every house. He said that dengue can be controlled only through preemptive security measures. He said that continuous monitoring of tyre shops and graveyards be maintained. Secretary Population Welfare, Altaf Aizad Khan directed Gulberg Town Administration to clear 192 acre land of Railways immediately with the cooperation of City District Government and warned that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. He said that special inspection teams on the pattern of last year, should the formed to visit different areas and promote public awareness regarding dengue. Meanwhile Secretary Cooperatives, Dr. Aamir Mahmood directed Iqbal Town Administration to immediately make arrangements for the publicity of emergency call number of dengue helpline for the benefit of people. He said that the officers failing to implement micro plan would be removed. He informed that cases have been registered against seven persons for unsatisfactory sanitary arrangements while heavy fine have been imposed on a number of hotels and schools.

Secretary Livestock, Irfan Elahi presided over a meeting of Emergency Response Committee Aziz Bhatti Town. He directed town administration to pay special attention to the cleanliness of open spaces as well as release anti-dengue larvae fish in ponds. He said that monitoring of graveyards should especially be ensured.

Special Secretary Local Government, Dawood Ahmed while presiding over a meeting of Data Gunj Bukhsh Town Emergency Response Committee directed to maintain a watchful eye on ponds and take immediate steps if larvae is detected. Secretary Excise & Taxation Capt. (Retd.) Zahid Saeed presided over a meeting of Emergency Response Committee Nishster Town and directed that public awareness should be promoted against dengue virus and seminars and walks should be arranged for this purpose.

Member Board of Revenue, Khalid Masood Ch. while chairing a meeting at Shalimar Town Emergency Response Committee directed that a special campaign against dengue should be continued with the cooperation of the masses.
