Forests Department celebrates World Forests Day

Lahore: Punjab Forests Department celebrated World Forests Day at Jallo Forest Park. Secretary Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Dr. Aamier Ahmed was the chief guest. Director General Fisheries Department Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, DG Wildlife Ashraf Ch. and Nazim Aalay Forests Lahore Shabbir Rana were also present on the occasion.

A large number of students from Lahore College for Women University Lahore and a local school also participated in the ceremony. Nazim Forests Tariq Mahmood Ch. welcomed the distinguished guests and the participants. Shabbir Rana threw light on the importance of World Forests Day. Dr. Aamier thanked that students and emphasized upon plantation. Secretary Forests also led a walk in connection with World Forests Day.

On the conclusion of the walk, students, NGOs and government employees took part in tree plantation at Jallo Forest Park. The students evinced keen interest in the stalls set up by Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries departments.
